Storage capacity can be expanded by adding external hard disk towers to your microCT system. Particularly attractive is the addition of disk towers configured with RAID 5 disk arrays, which store your data on multiple disks automatically, helping to protect you from data loss. Hot spare disks can be included for extra peace of mind.
Disk tower | Disk type | Spindle speed RPM | Capacity / RAID 5 volume | Max. total capacity / tower | Max. hot spares |
MSA 30 | SCSI | 15,000 | 900 GB | 2.7 TB | 2 |
MSA 60 | SAS | 15,000 | 900 GB | 3.6 TB | 0 |
MSA 60 | SATA | 7,200 | 1 TB* | 6 TB | 0 |
MSA 70 | SAS | 10,000 | 900 GB | 5.4 TB | 1 |
MSA 70 | SATA | 7,200 | 1 TB | 8 TB | 1 |
* RAID 1
SCSI and SAS disks are recommended for highest performance. SATA disks offer a cost-effective upgrade path when capacity and cost take priority over absolute performance.
A maximum of two MSA 30 disk towers can be connected to a single RAID card. For a greater expansion capacity, up to 4 MSA 60 and MSA 70 arrays can be connected in cascade.
HP disk towers carry a three-year guarantee with next working day exchange in the event of disk failure.
